Second round of financing between Ovesco Endoscopy AG and Trans-Duodenal Concepts GmbH
Tübingen, October 14, 2026. Ovesco Endoscopy AG and Trans-Duodenal Concepts GmbH are expanding their collaboration. In a second round of financing, Ovesco Endoscopy is investing 1.1 million euros and increasing its stake in Trans-Duodenal Concepts GmbH to 25%. The investment will be used, among other things, to conduct a clinical trial and prepare for production.
Trans-Duodenal Concepts GmbH is developing an endoscopically implantable tubular prosthesis that lines the duodenum, thereby preventing the absorption of nutrients in the upper small intestine. This supports weight loss and, for example, improves blood sugar management in patients with diabetes. The prosthesis can be removed after six months. With BARS®, a product designed to reduce dilated anastomoses – such as those that occur after gastric bypass surgery – Ovesco Endoscopy AG is already well-established in the endoscopic treatment of complications following bariatric procedures.
“With our solution, we are bridging the gap between conservative therapy and highly invasive surgical treatment in the management of obesity,” explains Prof. Dr. med. Georg Kähler, founder of Trans-Duodenal Concepts GmbH. “With Ovesco Endoscopy’s investment, we will, among other things, conduct a study at eight hospitals, for which we are currently recruiting patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at seven centers.”
“At Ovesco, we drive innovation not only with our own products but also through strategic partnerships such as the one with Trans-Duodenal Concepts GmbH. We see enormous potential here to offer patients a new, minimally invasive option. This investment strengthens our partnership and accelerates the clinical development of a promising product,” said Prof. Dr. med. Marc Schurr, CEO of Ovesco Endoscopy AG.
