Indications of the diagnostic FTRD®neo
The diagnostic FTRD®neo is a more compact FTRD®neo System designed for full-thickness biopsy in the colon and rectum for diagnostic purposes. It is suitable for histological examination in cases of functional disorders of the colonic and rectal wall, e.g. in the context of neurogastroenterological investigations.
Full-thickness biopsies enable precise histological visualization of the enteric nerve plexuses and can provide important insights in the diagnosis of motility disorders.
Full-thickness biopsies are used for, among others:
- Hypo- and aganglionosis (e.g., Hirschsprung’s disease)
- Enteric ganglionitis
- Visceral neuro- and myopathy (e.g., in chronic constipation)
- Gastrointestinal amyloidosis
- Enteric manifestation of neurological diseases (e.g., Parkinson’s disease)
The diagnostic FTRD®neo
The diagnostic FTRD®neo consists of an application cap with pre-loaded FTRD®neo clip, integrated HF snare and thread, a thread retriever, endoscope sleeve with adhesive tapes and FTRD®neo hand wheel.
During the procedure, the application cap is mounted onto the endoscope tip with the snare running outside the endoscope and protected by the endoscope sleeve (Click here to watch the assembly video). Rotating the hand wheel tensions the thread and deploys the clip; the integrated HF snare then transects the tissue above the clip.
For improved access and easier maneuverability, the diagnostic FTRD®neo can be used with (pediatric) endoscopes with a diameter of 10.5 to 12.0 mm.
