The TandemLoop is an instrument designed for the endoscopic removal of elongated foreign bodies from the gastrointestinal tract. As the first instrument to incorporate two independently controllable snares, it enables the alignment and retrieval of elongated foreign bodies using controlled traction. This can reduce the coordination effort previously required to use and switch between multiple instruments for fixation, alignment, and retrieval, as well as the associated need for additional staff.
The TandemLoop combines clinical efficiency with thoughtful design and delivers benefits that extend beyond the actual retrieval.
- Full control at every step: The two independently controllable snares allow for the fixation, alignment, and retrieval of the foreign body in a single procedure – more efficient for the team, safer for the patient.
- Intuitive and ergonomic: Color-coded push handles make operation straightforward and enable safe procedures even in acute or complex situations.
- Broad endoscope compatibility: The TandemLoop is compatible with any endoscope featuring a working channel of ≥ 2.8 mm. It thus integrates seamlessly into the existing clinical workflow.
- One instrument for the entire GI tract: The working length of 220 cm covers both the upper and lower GI tract, thereby reducing inventory requirements and costs.
The TandemLoop is designed for the endoscopic removal of elongated foreign bodies from the gastrointestinal tract, including objects such as pens, spoons, batteries, or small bones, which are particularly challenging to retrieve due to their length. To ensure the foreign body can be securely grasped and aligned, it should be at least 5 cm long.
The instrument is inserted through the working channel with the snares closed. After both loops are positioned around the foreign body, they are closed one after the other. Thanks to the special design of the TandemLoop, the foreign body aligns itself in a controlled manner along the endoscope as the loops close, allowing it to be retrieved safely and effectively. When used in combination with the SecureCap, available in sizes 12 and 14, the scope of application can also be expanded to include particularly sharp-edged or pointed foreign bodies. The TandemLoop thus offers a flexible solution for various clinical situations involving foreign body removal.
