What is the FTRD®neo System?

The FTRD®neo System is an instrument for flexible endoscopy for full-thickness resection and diagnostic tissue acquisition of suitable lesions in the gastrointestinal tract.

It combines secure closure through the established OTSC® technique and resection in a single procedure.
The FTRD®neo System enables the removal of suitable lesions involving all wall layers, down to the serosa. The design of the FTRD®neo System ensures that transection of the intestinal or gastric wall only occurs after it has been securely closed at the target site. The organ lumen is therefore not opened during the procedure.

Benefits of the FTRD®neo System

  • Transluminal, minimally invasive approach
  • Established OTSC® technique for secure closure
  • Expansion of the endoscopic resection spectrum
  • Improvement of histological diagnosis
  • Complete procedure set for endoscopic full-thickness resection
  • The world's best-documented method for endoscopic full-thickness resection

From FTRD® to FTRD®neo – Peak performance in clip application

As a consistent further development of the clinically established FTRD® System, FTRD®neo takes endoscopic full-thickness resection to the next level. The targeted improvements in handling and application were developed in close collaboration with users and are based on the design innovations that have already proven themselves in clinical practice with OTSC®neo System.

FTRD®neo application cap

  • Peak performance in clip application
New ring design with anti-rotation geometry ensures consistently reliable clip application.
  • Further enhanced visual confirmation of clip application
Optimized blue ring provides greater certainty that the clip has been applied.
  • Smoother insertion
Rounded clip tooth edges enable smoother passage through the GI tract – for increased patient comfort from the very start.
  • Expanded endoscope compatibility
colonic FTRD®neo is compatible with 11.5–14.0 mm endoscopes (previously: 11.5–13.2 mm) – for seamless integration with existing equipment.

FTRD®neo hand wheel

  • Even more stable handling during the procedure
New hand wheel enables better operation throughout the entire procedure.
  • Easier working channel access
For a smooth workflow when inserting instruments.
  • Quick, easy assembly with silicone strap
Intuitive silicone strap attachement makes setup easier and faster than ever before.

Application of the FTRD®neo System

The FTRD®neo System is used for a wide range of indications in the lower and upper gastrointestinal tract. With three different variants, Ovesco offers the right FTRD®neo System for different clinical requirements: The colonic FTRD®neo for use in the colon and rectum, the gastroduodenal FTRD®neo for use in the stomach and duodenum, and the diagnostic FTRD®neo for diagnostic tissue acquisition in the colon and rectum.

The FTRD®neo System is used for, among others:

Full-thickness resection and diagnostic tissue acquisition

  • Non-lifting (recurrent) adenomas
  • Adenomas at difficult locations (at/in diverticula, appendix base)
  • Small subepithelial tumors
  • Submucosal tumors
  • Follow-up resection of malignant polyps
  • Early carcinomas

Diagnostic full-thickness biopsy (functional and neurogastroenterological disorders)

  • Hypo- and aganglionosis (e.g., Hirschsprung's disease)
  • Enteric ganglionitides
  • Visceral neuro- and myopathies (e.g., in chronic constipation)
  • Gastrointestinal amyloidosis
  • Enteric manifestations of neurological disorders (e.g., Parkinson's disease)
  • Gastroparesis

A comprehensive concept: From training to aftercare

The FTRD®neo System is now available in more than 80 countries worldwide – supported by more than a decade of clinical experience. What makes it unique is Ovesco's comprehensive concept: More than 3,000 physicians and nursing professionals worldwide have been trained in a structured program that combines theoretical knowledge, intensive hands-on training, and practical tips from experienced users. Thanks to the short learning curve, getting started is quick – Ovesco accompanies every step, from team training to support during the first procedures.

Continuous innovation ensures lasting high-performance quality: from optimized clip application performance to the new ring design for improved visual application confirmation.

The concept is completed by the remOVE System – the only dedicated instrument for the endoscopic removal of Ovesco clips. It ensures safe aftercare and enables re-EFTR procedures whenever follow-up treatment is required.
