US case series: FTRD® in IBD patients

FTRD® presents as a promising new treatment modality for IBD patients, achieving 100% technical success, no postoperative complications and no residual lesions or recurrence

  • Histologically confirmed full-thickness resection in all patients
  • No adverse events (no bleeding, no perforation, no postoperative complications)
  • No residual lesions or recurrence at mean follow-up of 7.8 ± 4.5 months

Study details

  • Single-center, retrospective case series; June 2020 – July 2022 (Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA, USA)
  • 5 adult patients (mean age 66.4 ± 6.8 years) with ulcerative colitis (inflammatory bowel disease / IBD)
  • Aim: Evaluation of safety and efficacy of EFTR using the FTRD® System in IBD patients with challenging colorectal lesions unsuitable for conventional endoscopic resection
  • Indications: Fibrotic, non-lifting colorectal polyps
  • Polyp locations: descending colon (n=3), rectum (n=1), transverse colon (n=1)
  • Mean polyp size: 25 ± 5 mm
