First U.S. experience with BARS® for anastomotic revision after RYGB
This case series demonstrates that BARS® enables successful endoscopic gastrojejunal anastomosis (GJA) revision with clinically meaningful early weight loss and rapid procedure times
Key findings
- 100% technical success rate with ≥70% anastomotic reduction
- Mean total body weight loss of 10.5% at 1 month (range: 6.0-13.5%)
- Mean BMI reduction of 3.5 kg/m² at 1 month (range: 2.0-4.5 kg/m²)
- Significant reduction in procedure time with experience:
from 48 minutes (first case) to 19 minutes (third case) - No major complications; all patients discharged within 1-2 days
Study details
- Retrospective case series (n=3) at Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio
- Patients with weight regain after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and dilated GJA (>15 mm; range: 20-60 mm)
- Aim: Evaluation of safety, efficacy, and technical feasibility of BARS® for endoscopic GJA revision
