Symposium Report: DGE-BV and Endoscopy Live Congress in Berlin

Within the scope of the DGE-BV / Endoscopy Live Congress in Berlin, the afternoon symposium supported by Ovesco Endoscopy took place. The symposium was chaired by Prof. Dr. med. Karel Caca, Ludwigsburg Hospital and Prof. Dr. med. Alexander Meining, University of Ulm. Overall the event attracted over 250 participants.

Dr. med. Arthur Schmidt, University of Freiburg presented the randomized controlled STING trial, which shows that the OTSC Clip is significantly superior in the treatment of recurrent bleeding compared to standard techniques.

Dr. med. Edris Wedi, University of Goettingen, showed similar results with the multicenter FLETRock evaluation. In this case the OTSC Clip was used as first-line treatment of UGIB compared to predicted values according to the validated Rockall score. Treatment with the OTSC Clip significantly reduced (p<0,001) the probability of rebleeding (in the medium- and high-risk-group) and rebleeding-associated mortality (in the high-risk-group).

The present symposium report summarizes the results of both studies and shows the experience of some of our users with the OTSC system for hemostasis.

This is an essential excerpt of the important data providing the latest results in treatment of UGIB (upper GI bleeding) and representing a milestone in the future treatment of UGIB.
