Ovesco Endoscopy AG has been nominated for the “Großer Preis des Mittelstandes” for the second time in a row. After having been a finalist last year, this year the company even reached the award as one of only three winners in the state. The prize of the Oskar Patzelt Foundation has been considered Germany’s most important and renowned business award since 1995. The award is intended to raise public awareness of the achievements of companies as an economic engine and to present successful examples. The Oskar Patzelt Foundation’s expert jury awards the prizes based on the core factors of overall company development, creation and securing of jobs and training opportunities, innovation and transformation, commitment to the region, as well as service and customer proximity.

The medical device company from Tübingen develops, produces and distributes innovative medical products in the field of endoscopic and surgical therapy in the gastrointestinal tract worldwide. Ovesco Endoscopy AG” was founded in 2008 by a group of scientists and physicians, with additional locations in France, the USA and, since 2023, also in India, using their knowledge to develop innovative products. Ovesco’s hallmark products are endoscopic clip systems. This product platform for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases saves lives worldwide today and is rated as the most effective endoscopic hemostasis procedure.

Innovation is part of Ovesco’s brand essence. The company is also active in the field of microsensors and telemetry, for example, in order to create further patient-friendly procedures. 101 granted patents and 51 registered trademarks testify to the innovative strength of the medical technology specialists. This has also enabled them to double sales in the last five years, ten percent of which is reinvested in research and development each year. Ovesco considers its cooperation with players from research, clinics, associations and non-profit initiatives to be essential. The same applies to its employees, because their well-being increases the spirit of innovation and thus the success of the company.

Since 2019, the number of employees has increased from 70 to more than 100. Internationality and diversity are a matter of course at Ovesco: One third of the employees have a family history of migration – people from 15 nations work at the Tübingen headquarters alone. Ovesco is certified as a “family-conscious company” and has its own daycare facility for small children in the company building, accompanied by a re-entry program after parental leave. Ovesco also offers its employees regular training, a subsidized company pension plan, an online platform with many discounts, job bicycles, team events, health days and occupational health checkups. The signing of the “Charta der Vielfalt für Diversität in der Arbeitswelt ” as well as the participation in the company network “Erfolgsfaktor Familie” of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs and the DIHK underline the appreciation of the company for its employees.

Ovesco is committed to preserving the environment and using renewable energy. In 2019, the new company building was constructed in an energy-saving manner and with a powerful photovoltaic system. The company also provides humanitarian aid and supports medical care in developing and emerging countries with its own projects, such as the financing of 500 endoscopic examinations for people in need in India. In addition, it regularly supports campaigns of the Foundation for Sick Children in Tübingen and, through sponsorship, artists such as the music ensemble D`Accord.

The award recognition is a team success. “We are honored to receive this award for our work. The accompanying statue will be given a dignified place in our entrance area,” concludes CEO Prof. Dr. med. Marc O. Schurr.
